FAREWELL DINNER, OPEN HOUSE PLANNED FOR MINOT PASTOR A farewell dinner and open house will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Little Flower School Gymnasium, 800 W. University Ave., for the Rev. Fred Harvey. The Little Flower Knights of Columbus and Confraternity will serve a meal of pulled pork sandwiches, slushburgers, salads and desserts. A freewill offering will be received to benefit a charity of his choice.

Harvey has been pastor of Little Flower Church in Minot for six years and served as chaplain for the Minot Police and Ward County Sheriff's Department. He also served the Minot Catholic Schools as school board president and as chaplain of their sports teams.

He has been assigned to Church of St. Joseph, Mandan.

BREAKFAST PROCEEDS TO HELP FLOOD VICTIMS Knights of Columbus Council #9906 will serve a benefit breakfast Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the lower level of St. Leo's Catholic Church, 218-1st St. SE.

French toast, scrambled eggs and sausage will be served.

Proceeds of the freewill offering will benefit Minot area flood victims.

BENEFIT SCHEDULED FOR TOWNER WOMAN A pancake and sausage benefit breakfast and a silent auction will be held Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the TGU-Towner Public School for Sarah Volk, 25, of Towner. Some auction items will include tickets for Minnesota Twins baseball and North Dakota State University football games.

Volk was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in her foot April 20 and found out May 2 that the cancer had traveled to her brain.

Funds raised will help with medical expenses. Supplemental funds will be provided by the McHenry County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

UNDER GOD'S CANOPY SESSIONS SCHEDULED Under God's Canopy sessions will be held from June 27 to June 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jefferson Early Childhood Center, 3800-11th Ave. SE. Children entering grades 1 to 6 may attend.

The summer Bible camp will be led by Metigoshe Ministries. It is co-sponsored by St. Joseph's Community Health Foundation and All Saints, Christ Lutheran, Faith United Methodist, Vincent United Methodist and Congregational United Church of Christ churches, all of Minot.

MINOT CHURCH OF CHRIST HAS NEW PASTOR Daniel Kelly has been hired to serve as the minister at Minot Church of Christ, 1315-1st St. NE.

He is originally from Alabama where he was raised. He recently graduated from Faulkner Christian University in Montgomery, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in biblical studies.

Kelly has been involved in teaching the Bible overseas in both Romania and Kenya, as well as stateside in Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky.

Bible studies are held Sundays at 9:30 a.m. with a worship service at 10:30 a.m. and an evening service at 5. Bible study sessions are also held Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

FIRST BAPTIST XYZ TO MEET THURSDAY First Baptist Church XYZ, a senior adult ministry for people in the 50-plus age group, will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 200-3rd St. SW.

The testimony and song program, "From Brokenness to Forgiveness," will be presented by Karen Ferguson of Onalaska, Wis.

NASHVILLE BAND TO PRESENT CONCERT IN MINOT CHURCH The Ernie Couch & Revival Band, from Nashville, will perform a free 30-minute concert June 26 during the regular 10:45 a.m. worship service in Faith United Methodist Church, 801 W. University Ave.

MINOT CHURCH SETS DATES FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL A vacation Bible school is scheduled Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 801 W. University Ave.

There will be no Wednesday evening service and quilters will not meet while vacation Bible school is in session.

DAY CAMP SESSIONS PLANNED AT AUGUSTANA LUTHERAN CHURCH Day Camp at Augustana Lutheran Church, 321 W. University Ave., will be provided by Camp Metigoshe Ministries at the end of the month.

Sessions will be from June 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and July 1 from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be no charge for the day camp.

CORRECTION The Rev. Paul Cervinski will mark the 50th anniversary of his ordination Sunday by celebrating Mass at 11 a.m. in Little Flower Church, 800 W. University Ave. The time of the service was not included in a notice in the June 11 edition of The Minot Daily News.
