The International Peace Garden has a full schedule into the summer months. Highlights include:
May 8: Mother's Day: Free gate admission, plant for mothers and entertainment (North Dakota Governor's Band, Velva). Five dollars off season pass. First time sale of limited Marshall Peace Garden Rose.
May 15: Sunday Breakfast Brunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
June 4: "A Day in the Garden" 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Hands-on experience in spring landscape using orchids, succulents and bulbs. Call to register.
June 9-10: Fiddler contest workshops
June 10: Friday Night Performances at 7:30 p.m. include Mike Dowling, renowned guitarists and the Turtle Mountain Metis Square Dancers. Admission is $12 for concert.
June 10-11: 36th annual Fiddlers Contest. Admission is $12 per day
June 24-26: 29th annual Peace Festival. Organized by volunteers, and designed with workshops and activities to help you to explore your personal, national, and international roles in nature with those around you. Festivities include soccer games, home-cooked meals and the annual walk to the Peace Tower. The Festival is free and open to the public. Call 1-204-534-2303 for more information.
July 8-10: 48th International Ham Radio Festival, billed as the best attended and most popular amateur radio event in the area. For more information, log on at (www.mts.net/~holderr/).
July 10: 51st Annual International Knights of Columbus Field Mass at 11:30 a.m. in the Masonic Auditorium. Catered meal to follow. The event is open to the public.
July 16: Scottish Highland Heavy Games Competition - North American Legion Athletic Camp
Aug. 6-7: Ninth annual International Peace Garden Relay for Life, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The relay is a celebration of survival and a tribute to the lives of loved ones who have been touched by cancer. Twelve hours of fun, entertainment, friendship and fundraising takes place in the Formal Garden. For information call 1-204-534-6995.
Aug 7: Third Annual "FAME" Summer Festival Fun, Art, Music and Entertainment and International 32nd Antique Classic Car and Shine Show, All Girls' Musical Exhibition, Alan Pearson Rosemaling display and demonstration, Vern Skaug and his sister Nancy Cogdill, photography by Anisa Nin, and Scavenger Hunt noon to 4 p.m.
