SOUND OFF: N.D. nice, but gets kinda cold

April 12, 2011
By MacKENZIE KOLTERYAHN , Minot Daily News

My name is MacKenzie Kolteryahn, and I am 16 and I'm from Oklahoma. I'm in North Dakota with my family; my mom Heather, my dad Larry, and my sister Alisha. We are here because my dad is working here on the pipeline. We have been here since August. It's nice up here, but it's a little too cold up here for me.

I am a first-year hockey player for the Watford City Oilers, and I love it. I played softball all the way up through school until I came up here and found out they did not have a school softball team. It was very disappointing, but it's OK now because I started playing hockey and it's super fun.

I go to school in Watford and I'm happy with it for the most part. My family and I plan on being here for a little while longer. I think this is good, but then again it's a little cold for my liking!
