Happy birthday, America

Happy 234th Birthday America! As America blows out another candle on the birthday cake this weekend, I will be making a wish that Barack Obama and the democrat party will stop transforming America. I like America the way it was before Barack Obama and the democrat party made it their goal to transform our traditional America into their progressive America. The way our liberties are disappearing, next year we might not even recognize her.

Maybe I'm too old fashioned but I liked America when we had a president that took responsibility for his position of power with grace and dignity. On the contrary, Barack Obama plays the blame game and points his finger at his predecessor and says," It's all his fault." Similarly, instead of helping to solve the major Gulf Coast oil leak, Obama is looking to kick someone's butt. He also wants to take advantage of this crisis and pass the Cap and Tax bill. Remember their motto "Never let a crisis go to waste."

Maybe I'm too prideful but I liked America when the president was proud of his country and it's citizens. However, Barack Obama feels the need to go around the world apologizing for this great country and it's citizens. I don't know about you, but I have nothing to be sorry for.

Maybe I'm too stingy but I liked America when it stood for personal responsibility. For example, if you chose to get health Insurance you bought it or worked for a company that offered it as a benefit. Now we have an out of control congress that forces us to buy whatever they are selling.

Maybe I'm too conservative but I liked America when capitalism wasn't a dirty word. Because we knew capitalism is what made America great and a place where everyone in the world wanted to live and work. In addition, G.M stood for General Motors not Government Motors. Also, too big to fail was just four words. Furthermore, when a small businessman could ask the vice president to lower the taxes and wasn't called a vulgar name.

Maybe I'm too impartial but I liked America when we didn't have special interest groups that received special favors from our president. Previously, when a new law was written it was for the general population, now they are riddled with special benefits as payback for their progressive friends and backers.

Maybe I'm too insecure but I liked America when the federal government defended our borders. For instance, the government didn't put signs on America' public lands warning American citizens to stay away because the government refused to enforce the border. This new way of enforcing our borders sounds like something a third world country would do.

Maybe I'm too traditional but I liked America when laws were passed after careful debate. Not like the congress we have now, passing important laws in the middle of the night that they didn't read. Then appearing on TV proclaiming, "After the bill is passed we can find out what is in it." Previously , our representatives represented their constituents wishes and didn't tell us they knew what is right for us.

Maybe its true, you don't miss something until its gone. Above all, I still love my country and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I just don't like what the politicians are transforming our country into. I don't like the change and I hope everyone votes this upcoming election. Remember in November, elections have consequences.
