Livestock auction licenses due end of March

Applications for North Dakota livestock auction market licenses are due March 31. The North Dakota Department of Agriculture recently sent out application forms to current license-holders. Auction houses are reminded to submit a fee schedule, proof of financial responsibility and a bond with their completed application. For more information, contact the NDDA at 328-2231.

Sawyer farmer takes top spot with spring wheat

Tim Tomlinson, Sawyer, received first place for his sample of hard red spring wheat during the fifth annual durum and hard red spring wheat quality contest, run by the North Dakota Wheat Commission.

Sponsored by the NDWC, U.S. Durum Growers Association, ADM Milling, General Mills, Horizon Milling and the North Dakota Mill, the winners in each durum and hard red spring wheat category receive cash prizes of $400, $250 and $150.

Pride of Dakota directory now available

The 2010 Pride of Dakota Membership Directory is now available.

Published by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, the 88-page directory includes more than 420 North Dakota companies from various industries such as food and condiments, gift and decorative items, jewelry, paper goods and recordings among others.

The directory includes the company name, contact person, street and mailing address, phone number, e-mail address and Web site, as well as a description of the company's business or products.

Copies of the directory are free and may be obtained by calling the NDDA at 1-800-242-7535 or can be ordered
