Minot AFB airmen presented combat action medal

January 17, 2010
Minot Daily News

Two military members at Minot Air Force Base, one from the 5th Bomb Wing and the other from the 91st Missile Wing, each were presented with the Air Force Combat Action Medal this month. The medal was authorized by the Air Force in 2007 and is for airmen who have been involved in direct fighting situations where they risked their lives in an enemy engagement. The main criteria to receive the medal is that the person must have been under direct and hostile fire while operating in unsecured space (outside the defended perimeter), or physically engaging hostile forces with direct and lethal fire.
