Make-up. Hair. Fashion. Lights. Camera. Glamour.
In a camera case, that's the idea behind the new photography business in town.
Like predecessor Glamour Shots, HotShots! offers individuals and groups the opportunity to have their hair and make-up professionally done and have a professional photographer take the person's photograph in a variety of poses from the everyday to the provocative.

"We took the general concept of Glamour Shots, but I don't know if it was the times of the style it was overdone," said Christine Arends, a professional make-up artist and owner of Platinum Rain Entertainment. "We will still do those same Glamour-type shots of headshots to the bedroom, but we want to mix in some more artful poses."
"The underlying reason we are doing this is to make women feel more confident as they are not the supermodel that they are bombarded with everyday from society," said Kim Whittemore, professional photographer and owner of 360 digitography in Minot. "We don't want to reinvent you, we just want to let you shine."
HotShots! is a business partnership between Arends' Platinum Rain Entertainment and Whittemore's 360 Digitography and is based out of Whittemore's studio, located at 1715 South Broadway.

Using social media marketing tools, Arends said business has been great since their mid-August opening with several sessions already completed or booked.
"We've tried very hard to make it an experience for them we have cheese, crackers, and waters for them and so far everyone has really enjoyed it," Arends said. "Although a majority of our business is female, we are open to men, couples and even generations (of families)."
The basic package for the photo shoot includes professionally done hair and make-up, a photo session complete with photo enhancements, one 8x10 photo, 8 wallet-size photos and a web-ready DVD video slide show of the session.
In addition to the standard package, participants may also purchase additional prints ranging from lab prints of up to 11x14, poster prints of up to 20x30 and WallHuggers think life-size sports figures on bedroom walls of various sizes as well as customized products like calendars, lightbox displays and gift-wrapped packages. Prices for these items range depend on the product or size of print.
If business continues to do well in Minot, Arends said they will consider expanding to outlying areas, but for the time being they are on the next big event their grand opening event scheduled for this fall.
