Agnes Rime of Garrison will celebrate her 106th birthday this week. She was born Aug. 7, 1903, to Iver and Bertha Iverson in Knox.
She graduated from Knox High School and then attended Minot State College, where she earned a teacher's certificate. She taught in several North Dakota schools, including at Emmet where she met her husband to be, Manuel Rime. They were married Oct. 8, 1930. in Knox and made their home on Rime Family Farm near Emmet. They attended Emmet Lutheran Church.
Their son Clifford was born there. He and his wife, Nona, live in Garrison.
Agnes has four grandchildren: Gregory, Chathum, Ill., Charlotte Burke, Maquoketa, Iowa, Bruce, on the family farm, Darren, Billings, Mont. Her great-grandchildren are Jessica Winter, Valley City, Randy in Colorado, Traci Burke, a student at Moorhead State University in Minnesota, Brian Rime at Garrison, Mindy Rime, Bismarck, David Rime, who attends Garrison High School. She has two stepgrandchildren, Patrick Simonson, Dickinson, and Mindy Piskur, in Ohio.
Manuel died in March 2003 at the age of 97 and a great-grandson, Joshua Rime, was killed in an auto accident 4 1/2 years ago.
Agnes has been in the swing bed unit at Garrison hospital for 17 years.
