The United States Department of Agriculture recently allocated $1.3 million in the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, known as EQIP, for North Dakota producers interested in organic food production.
The 2009 Organic Initiative provides financial assistance to currently certified organic producers to expand or enhance their operations as well as to producers who are transitioning to organic agriculture.
Eligible practices include conservation crop rotation, cover crop, nutrient management, pest management and prescribed grazing and forage harvest management.
Interested producers should contact their local Natural Resources Conservation Service office for more information and for application materials.
