Clearing the way

February 24, 2009
Minot Daily News

A snowplow clears snow from U.S. Highway 83 in the Garrison-Coleharbor area Friday afternoon. So far this month, as of Monday at 8 a.m., the North Central Research Extension Center south of Minot has recorded 7.25 inches of snow and 1.12 inches of precipitation, said Angela Sebelius, a research specialist at the center. That's quite a ways from the record snowfall for February, set in 1998, when the center recorded 30.9 inches. Minot set a snow record in December with 24.2 inches but a record was not set in January when 18 inches of snow fell. Since November to Monday at 8 a.m., a total of 58.95 inches of snow has been recorded at the center.
