More than 800 members of the North Dakota Farmers Union attended the annual state convention held Dec. 12-13 in Bismarck, in which they participated in drafting policy, discussing timely topics and electing state executive positions.
Robert Carlson was elected to his 12th consecutive term as president of NDFU and Elwood "Woody" Barth of Solen was elected vice president by the state board of directors.
Ron and Rita Bloom of Ryder were named the 2008 Farm Family of the Year for their involvement in the community and the organization.
Speakers at the convention included National Farmers Union President Tom Buis, U.S. Rep. Earl Pomeroy, Gov. John Hoeven and Commissioner of Agriculture Roger Johnson.
