Alfred Forsman, 79, Garrison, formerly of Roseglen, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, in Garrison hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roseglen. Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Roseglen.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Alfred was born October 20, 1928, in Plaza, ND, to Emil Sr. and Marie (Hanson) Forsman. He was raised and educated in the Roseglen area. He married Shirley Huus and had three children, Lisa, Barry, and Kevin. They later divorced.
Alfred was a very active person. He farmed for all his life, but had many other jobs in his spare time. He drove school bus and semi trucks. He also worked construction, did seismograph work and bartended.
When he wasn't working, Alfred made time for his hobbies. He was a bit of a card shark that loved to play pinochle. He also liked to shoot pool and throw horseshoes. He never missed the Makoti Threshing Show in the fall and was very proud of his old combine. Alfred was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Alfred is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Terry) Skolrud, Nashua, MT; son, Kevin (Lisa) Ashley, ND; sister, Ella Kolden, Roseglen, ND; sister-in-law, Lorraine Forsman, Ryder, ND; 6 grandchildren, Lee, Matt, Jen, Ryan, Gus, and Tony; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Barry; brother, Emil Jr., and two infant brothers.
