Ramey Alana Reeves
Sept. 26, 1974-July 9, 2008
Ramey Alana Reeves, age 33, Hanahan, S.C., formerly of Minot, N.D., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 9th, at a Charleston, S.C., hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Her celebration of life and burial were at James Island, S.C., on Saturday, July 12th.
Ramey Alana Harder was born in Minot on Sept. 26, 1974, to Terry and Kathy (Lind) Harder. She attended Bible Baptist School in Minot until moving with her parents and sister Shayna to Lynchburg, Va., when she was 10 years old.
While attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, she met her future husband, John Reeves, and they were married on March 8, 1998. They moved to James Island, S.C., where John became employed by the Charleston Police Department.
A precious little son named Judah John was born to them on March 23, 2001. Ramey was a wonderful wife and mother and to Ramey, John and Judah were the true joys of her life.
Ramey was a beautiful person with a beautiful smile and everyone she met was her friend. She was a talented singer with a heart for God, as was her sister Shayna, having learned to sing with their dad, Terry, at very young ages. At the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Ramey was delighted to be chosen to sing and tour with a group called "The Young Believers." Ramey was known to give away CDs of her singing and hardly ever missed an opportunity to talk to strangers about her faith.
To her family, Ramey was often called "Ramey Doodles," a nickname bestowed upon her by Grandpa Gordie when she was very young, and she loved it.
Ramey was a fun-loving person. She loved North Dakota and visited as often as she could. She called it her "Homeland" since she was born in Minot and she had family and many friends here whom she dearly loved and who dearly loved her. She loved the zoo, Roosevelt Park and Sammy's Pizza, and especially the Medora Musical, which she was able to attend when she visited N.D. last August.
