Gordon Wilhelmi
Sept. 27, 1938-June 28, 2008Gordon Wilhelmi, 69, of Stanley, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his lake home at Lake Metigoshe.
Funeral services will be held at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Stanley on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 11 a.m., with burial following at Fairview Cemetery, Stanley. Rosary will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the church.
Gordon was born on September 27, 1938, at Starkweather, to Joe and Marie Wilhelmi. He was raised in Starkweather and Washburn. He graduated from Washburn High School.
He was employed by Stromberg Carlson and traveled around the United States installing electronic telephone switchboards.
Gordon married Patricia Hammack on September 25, 1958, and they traveled together for years until he purchased the telephone business in Stanley with his father and brother. Gordy worked for 40 years at Midstate Telephone Company serving in many capacities in the operation and management of the company.
He was a member of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Stanley, Stanley Fire Department, and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight.
He loved being at his lake home at Lake Metigoshe, boating, fishing with Abby, snowmobiling, or just doing nothing.
He is survived by the special love of his life of nearly 50 years, his wife, Patricia; and granddaughter, Abby, who was by her PaPa's side for 12 years; son, David (Rhonda), Stanley; daughters, Maria (Duane) Schmaltz, Devils Lake, and Kelly Wilhelmi, Stanley; grandchildren, Mitchell, Michael (Amber), Abby, Tate and Sierrah; brothers, James and Mark (Rita), both of Stanley; brothers-in-law Darrel (Julia) Hammack, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Donald Hammack, Appleton, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Marie; and grandson, Kyle.
