MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Dolphins say they have asked the NFL to review the Jonathan Martin situation, after revealing Sunday that the second-year lineman is alleging player misconduct.
The Dolphins are also looking into the matter and say they "are taking these allegations very seriously." The team has not specified what the exact allegations are.
Martin left the Dolphins on Oct. 28 to receive help for emotional issues, raising questions about the role teasing from teammates played in his sudden departure. The team released a statement earlier Sunday saying "the notion of bullying" was based on speculation. Hours later, the story took a decided turn.
