"One can only wonder how long it will be before even articulating publically that a person believes gay sex is a sin, as Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson recently did, or that marriage should only be between one man and one woman, will result in a jail sentence or worse." Fischer

This is where the wheels came off of this "opinion" letter. In the very same Amendment, the First, this letter writer uses to justify his "opinion" the very next clause following "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" there follows "or abridging the freedom of speech". That settles that.

And the letter writer fears repercussions that "result in a jail sentence or worse" And what would that "worse" be...recognizing a fellow citizen's civil liberties?

Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, Is on the "Edge Of Death."

It's obvious that he was a very closeted gay man who couldn't reconcile that. Unfortunately it manifested itself with a very vile hatred. I sincerely hope that he was able to come to terms with that and this is why the WBC excommunicated him. I don't wish him any ill will and I hope my fellow liberals do not picket his funeral.

"Why don't the gays who wish to be "their own" type establish their own church?"

Hate to break it to you landslide2014 but an overwhelming majority just don't care about gay issues unless there's a basis of discrimination and as far as opinions like yours, pretty much the same!

It sounds like Fred Phelps is alive and well right here in this forum.

This coming from him. This is a man who believes God is a good excuse to commit genocide, torture and murder.

It's God's Will! Dictators have been using it for years, don't look at me, God did it.

That's a great idea. That way they could become tax exempt. No longer would they have to pay into a system they get nothing out of.

You wouldn't have a problem with that would you?

"Yes from a $1.87 when Bush left office in 2008"

You keep repeating this prevarication. The economy was in a free fall. In 2008 the average price for gas was $4.12. Please stop lying.

Wow locomotive.....Did you leave anybody out on your interpretation of "hate"?

Or should I go with landslide2014 being the moral authority on certain subject matter?

landslide2014 preaches " Are the gays to DUMB or do they just like DEMANDING that everyone except their queeer ways?"

Science has demonstrated, in case after case of Republican hypocrisy, convincingly that homophobia is rooted in repressed homosexual desires.

The biggest homophobes I've ever met were desperately holding a closet door closed from the inside.

Most closet homosexuals scream the loudest against anything gay!

I agree with your post.

Here's a story I'ld like more information on;

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Authorities have arrested 14 men in a secret, members-only child *********** website that involved 251 children, mostly boys, in the United States and five other countries, U.S. officials said on Tuesday.

Authorities said 20 of the child victims were from Louisiana, 19 from Texas, 12 from North Dakota and 10 from Colorado.

I'ld like landslide2014 to investigate who exactly is" They are mentally sick.." and get back to us!

billgrr, your hate for anyone possessing a viewpoint other than your own has already been spoken by others. Is this plagiarism too?

And is his hate so fragile that it can't stand scrutiny?

Justaman, I made an assertion about billgrr and his own brand of hate. I then revised it to include a clarification of that hate.

Should you accept LS as a moral authority? That's totally up to you. If billgrr's take on what's moral agrees with your take, then let the fest begin. No skin off anyone's nose.

Also from the Reuters article

reuters . com/article/2014/03/18/us-usa-crime-child****-idUSBREA2H1S820140318

"Some of the men assumed female online personas to connect with the children, who ranged in age from three to 17 years, on popular social networks, officials from the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.

"The alleged U.S. victims, who have been identified and contacted by authorities, were from 39 U.S. states. The majority were between 13 and 15 years old and all but a handful were boys."

Yes, Justaman, this is mentally sick.

Parents, you better watch what your children are up to on those "popular social media networks."

I agree locomotive and good advice to parents!

After reading a brief history and a psychiatrist's thesis on connecting homosexuality to pedophilia & other twisted disorders.....There is no connection to the two.

So let's agree with Forest G by saying sick is, sick does!

psychology . ucdavis . edu/faculty_sites/rainbow/html/facts_molestation

I don't have a date for this study, but here is its concluding paragraph...

"The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children. But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so. And, as explained above, many child molesters cannot be characterized as having an adult sexual orientation at all; they are fixated on children."
