rick rod, gas price hikes are not limited to Minot or North Dakota. Nor are the North Dakota Republicans responsible. I think you would be one of the first to complain about deputies standing around while a bunch of criminals pick up litter. Are you going to join the clean up effort?

why should the criminals just be sitting on there butts eating good food, and watching TV? many states use the CRIMINALS to clean up trash.

There is already a shortage of officers. Do we really want to pay them to stand and watch criminals pick up debris that we can pick up ourselves?

We visited Arizona last winter. The "orange boys" as the natives call them, are out in the ditches picking up trash and trimming up the vegitation. (That is mostly to keep the illegals from hiding in the bushes.) They have a trailer with a porta potty on it and plenty of water. I hear said that the prisners volunteer for this duty cause it breaks the monotony of the boring days. We certainly could have a few of the inmates here picking up a little trash. Many are not really dangerous. As long as they are supervised, I think it is a great idea.

every spring Minot does have a designated date and time to pick up debris. It has already started in some locales around Minot. But, it doesn't have to designated. Just go out and pick up the litter. Yes, the wind is NOT helping the situation nor are people who let their garbage blow hither and yon. Of course, then there are people like my mother who used to call her neighbors when the trash got away. She was the neighborhood watch dog!

great idea. We could each do our part, but an organized effort would be a good idea too, and also tackle the graffiti that is popping up. We can start today individually, but set a time and date, announce it, and let's git'er'done.

We have many people staying in one of the finest Hotels in Minot (the ward county jail) who should be out cleaning up the trash in every part of town.
