Our current immigration laws haven't been enforced. If the case for doing away with them is merely "well, they're already here, why fight it" that's a strong indication that some authorities haven't been doing their job. Probably for years.

I'm for letting them become citizens and recharge our country with the vigor our pioneer forefathers had.

If these people are already here and working they surely won't be taking jobs from anybody else if they already have a job here. These people are more than willing to start at the bottom and work their way up which is something to many of today's youth are not willing to do. I'm for letting them and recharge our country with the vigor our pioneer forefathers had.

I read maximum civil penalty; not more than $3000 per illegal employee. Criminal penalty; not more than 6 months in jail total.

Sounds like a misdemeanor to me.

It is a felony to aid and abet an illegal alien (your local church feeding and housing them), but just a misdemeanor to hire them. Go figure.

Make it a felony to hire illegal immigrants, through the bosses in jail for a year and the problem will be fixed overnight.

Never happen, they will not enforce the laws on the books. The party in charge wants it just like it is.

Agreed about enforcing current immigration law, especially securing the border.
