Kim Albert, Minot I was disappointed to say the least in the letter from Rep. Bob Skarpohl, who clearly hasn’t done his homework....

Students. Gotta love their naivete.

Every statement you charged Rep Skarphol should have asked the SBHE has already been asked responded to many times. Have you not bothered to follow factual reports and news releases or are you just the student of the week sent out by the NDSA on behalf of your president to continue the attempted character assassination of Dr. Shirvani?

It is possible that this letter was sent in before the decision was reached, but the author could have called MDN to stop the printing of the letter.

Son of Minot, gotta love your naiveté.

There is nothing in this letter that is 'attempted character assassination.' These are facts. Shirvani has a troubled past in higher education and there is no way you or anyone else can deny that statement.

And if you want to go on about naiveté, there is nothing more naive than the statement 'have you not bothered to follow factual reports and news releases.' The 'factual reports' have come from the Board of Higher Ed. & their own legal representatives, as have the news releases.

Basically, the board said 'well, we've investigated these charges against us ourselves, and we've cleared ourselves.' You can believe that if you want, but I'm going to be a little skeptical of a self-investigation.

Minot son, I fear that you are drinking the Kool-Aid that Board of Higher Education is pouring. And to anybody that thinks the issues with Shirvani are over, I'm afraid we've only just begun.

The charges were against Shirvani, not the board. The attorney, not the board itself, found the board responsible for open meetings and no violations were found.

The board of higher education has no checks and balances. They report to no one but themselves. The power to appoint the members of this board needs to be taken away from the Governor and they need to become an elected position answerable to the people of North Dakota.

Changes need to be made. The legislature is wading through the proposed changes that have been brought forth. Time will tell what changes will come and if they are the right changes.
