Fair Board doesn’t get it

March 10, 2013

Johnnie Gorthy, Minot I was so sad to hear that the State Fair Board is going to evict the Historical Society from its present site, which they have occupied for longer than most of us can remember....

Our original All Seasons Arena was voted down. Hostefest was the drive for the building. Since then some $14+ million has been given by Minot and Ward County to the State Fair--much directly benefiting Hostefest, a private business. Don't let them do it. It smells like lutefisk to me.

You have to know when you're not wanted anymore. Must be the time. Time to move to new and better places.

The Ward County Historical Society needs to have a fund raiser to raise some cash and forget about the fair board.

The Ward County Historical Society does not need the NDSF.

If the fair board wants the buildings off of the fairgrounds, they can do it themselves if they want them gone so bad. The fair board can find a location where the buildings can be placed. All at the expense of the NDSF.

Next thing you know, the fair board will ask the Norsk Hostefest to find a new venue.

Yes, let's keep our historical collection right along the river so it can be destroyed by nature. (sarcasm, for those of you not sure how I stand on things;-)
