The Minot Metros didn’t wait until Friday to spark some fireworks. They set off the entire package Tuesday, scoring 29 runs on 31 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Cando in Section 5 American Legion Baseball action at Corbett Field. “We’ve been talking all year that we need to improve on our hitting,” said Metros head coach Travis Smith. “It’s something that was slow to start. As of the last two days now we’ve hit the ball really well.” Metros Casey Roed finished 2-for-3 with four runs batted in during the team’s 12-0 five-inning win in game 1. Roed, who bats seventh, was one of three Metros to have multiple hits, including Jordan Rubbelke (3-for-3) and Eric Merck (2-for-2). “When everyone else is hitting you definitely want to help continue that,” Roed said. “My approach has been a bit more aggressive lately. I’ve just been looking for a ball to drive, go opposite field, just go with the pitch.
