SportsDay ND - 12/26

December 26, 2012 - Staff Blog
Good mornin', folks. Hope everyone had a solid holiday. In this post, I'll combine links from the past two days because the local sports world all but halted on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Our best: Our Christmas day section included our all-area football team and today's section front contained our all-area volleyball team. These are more visual sections, so you'll have to pick up a physical copy of the paper to properly enjoy it.

Around the West: Jamestown Sun sports editor Dave Selvig broke down the success of the Jamestown College men's and women's basketball. ... The Dickinson Press's No. 5 story of the year was on the Hettinger-Scranton boys basketball team's recovery from a bus crash. ... Dickinson Press sports editor Dustin Monke also had this story on the late Tyler Plummer, a passionate supporter of the Dickinson State wrestling team. ... A couple more Bismarck Tribune staffers posted the top 5 stories of the year for their respective beats. See U-Mary writer Cindy Peterson's list here, and Class B writer Michael Weber's list here.

NDSU: The Forum's Jeff Kolpack had a story on how far the upperclassmen have come for the Bison football team. ... Kolpack had another story on the strength and conditioning benefits for NDSU's players as a result of extended seasons. Basically, the athletes can work out as a team as long as the Bison are still alive in the FCS playoffs.

UND: The Grand Forks Herald's Wayne Nelson had a story on men's basketball player Troy Huff coming back from a broken jaw.
