Our best: Here's my story from Minot's 83-39 thrashing of Jamestown in a Class A boys basketball game. The Magicians (3-0) have connected on 25 triples on the young season...Adam Lawson staffed Our Redeemers' 68-45 win over Bottineau in boys basketball. The Crusaders improved to 7-0....MDN hockey purist/sportswriter Mike Kraft staffed Minot High's 15-2 laugher over Hazen-Buelah at Maysa Arena.
Around the West Region: Century handled Mandan 7-1 in a boys' hockey tilt and the Bismarck Tribune's Steve Thomas has the story...the Tribune also released its top Class B performers for the week here...the Dickinson Press is counting down its top 10 stories 2012; here's what checks in at No. 10...Royal McGregor of the Dickinson Press staffed No. 2 Bismarck's 63-10 wrestling win over Dickinson...the Williston Tribune's Mark Jones has a Q&A with WHS girls hoops standout Jayden Ferguson.
Around the East Region: Longtime prep scribe Greg DeVillers of the Grand Forks Herald covered East Grand Forks' 67-58 win over Grand Forks Central in boys hoops.... East Grand Forks was also able to get by Central in boys hockey. NDSU: The North Dakota State women's basketball team fell hard at Wisconsin-Green Bay, 72-37, on Tuesday night. Here's the Green Bay Gazette's story on the rout. Minot alumnus Holly Johnson had seven points for the Bison...and, for those of you who don't already know, NDSU head man Craig Bohl (pictured above) was named the national FCS coach of the year
UND: UND beat writer Tom Miller of the Grand Forks Herald opines on the Fighting Whatchamacallits' early-season success on the ice here
Of interest: Former Williston State and Bismarck High guard Luke Martinez had a career-high 25 points to help undefeated Wyoming (11-0) take down the University of Denver in a non-conference game on Tuesday night. Martinez, a starter, is averaging 13 a game for the Cowboys.
