Top 10 movies for Grown-ups
December 18, 2012 - Andrea Johnson
I notice that I don't go to the movie theater nearly as often as I used to, either because the movies have gotten less interesting or they just don't make many movies for people who aren't in the right age demographic. The last movie I saw was the James Bond movie "Skyfall," which I thought was entertaining enough, though not one I'll probably rush to see again.
So, even though I am nowhere near retirement, I took some interest when the AARP sent me an e-mail with its list of the "Top Ten Movies for Grownups for 2012." They include: "Argo," "Amour," "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "Hitchcock," "Les Miserables," "Lincoln," "Quartet," "The Sessions," "Silver Linings Playbook," and "Zero Dark Thirty."
Of the list, "Les Miserables," is the only one I'm genuinely eager to see. It's supposed to be released on Christmas Day and the reviews it has received are stellar.
I haven't seen any of the rest of them, though "Lincoln" is said to be quite good. Only a handful of them have been shown at Minot's theater but they are probably out on DVD and might be worth renting.
What movies would you recommend for grown-ups who have outgrown superheroes and gross-out comedies?
