MINOT AIR FORCE BASE – A Minot Air Force Base airman was found dead off base, according to base officials.

In a statement released by the base, Airman 1st Class Aniyah P. Bess, assigned to the 5th Medical Group, was found deceased in the evening on Oct. 23.

“We mourn the loss of one of our own,” said Col. Jesse Lamarand, 5th Bomb Wing commander. “Our hearts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Chaplain Corps teams and grieving resources are available to anyone at Minot AFB affected by this tragic loss, according to the information.

The death is under investigation by the Ward County Sheriff’s Office.
