MCDC reopens with Fall Fun Day festivities
The Magic City Discovery Center will reopen from its annual closure on Friday, Sept. 20, with a Fall Fun Day, featuring a STEAM fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., according to a center news release.
Staff educators will have five tables set up with different learning activities touching on the educational elements of STEAM (science, technology, education, art and math). Children can spark their curiosities about earth’s natural elements using microscopes, test their engineering skills by using popsicles to hold a pumpkin, paint a leaf using a shaving cream painting technique and more.
STEAM activities will be set up on the third floor of the discovery center, with popcorn and hot cocoa provided. Weather permitting, take in the views of the Magic City from the rooftop area.
The discovery center will be operating with new hours as follows: Monday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Tuesday, closed; Wednesday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
