RapidCare coming
Katina Tengesdal/MDN •
The future location of a RapidCare clinic is pictured. The clinic will be built this summer, and will be located off U.S. Highway 83 in front of Wal Mart and just south of the Pour Farm.
Dr. Rodney Lee, of RapidCare urgent and walk-in clinics, will open a new clinic in Minot this fall. The clinic will be located off U.S. Highway 83 in front of Wal-Mart and just south of the Pour Farm, and will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week.
“The main goal of the clinics is convenience and accessibility, with short waiting times. Most people, if they need to be seen on a particular day, either can’t get in to their doctor, or they don’t want to wait in an emergency room and pay higher co-pays,” Lee said.

‘Samantha Who?’ shows how sitcoms are meant to be doneWed, May 7, 2008 @ 6:41PM This summer, the situation comedy writers of America should receive gift baskets from their production teams that include the first season of “Samantha Who?” DVDs. This sitcom works. It works in ways that other similar sitcoms haven’t, and it’s working better than most of the other star-driven comedies I’ve seen lately. Part of the genius is Christina Applegate in the title role. Who knew “Married With Children’s” Kelly Bundy could carry a show? She’s still a ditzy blonde, but her comedy has grown up a lot in this series. Samantha wakes up from a weeklong coma with retrograde amnesia. So she’s unaware that she kicked her new best friend, Dena – the large, goofy woman with the Newfoundland dog fetish – to the curb years ago, when they were in grade school.

How I learned to stop worrying and love Max ScherzerThu, May 1, 2008 @ 7:02PM My boss at the Minot Daily News, sports editor Michael Linnell, always asks me why I never write about the umpteen million fantasy sports leagues I'm in. I never do because about 99.99 percent of readers don't care about it (although some say you could apply that same percentage to thre rest of my writing). Anyway, I was about to break down a few weeks ago and write about how I had already blown any chance I had to win my MLB roto baseball league. After drafting last in the 16-team league, I was awarded No. 1 waiver priority. That means I have the first chance to claim any player another team drops or a player who moves up from the minors and wasn't draft eligible. After drafting offense in the first 6 rounds, I needed to use that waiver pick on a stud pitcher. Two weeks into the season, it appeared I had missed out on picking up the "Next Big Thing." That "Next Big Thing" would be Cincy Reds starter Johnny Cueto.

Stop lightsThu, April 10, 2008 @ 11:44AM There's one thing about Minot that really gets my goat. Everybody knows that the brake pedal in your vehicle is one of, if not the, biggest culprit in decreasing gas mileage. With gas prices as high as they are, all this stop-and-go driving is murder on everyone's fuel budget. So why in the world can't I drive up and down Broadway without catching every other stop light? Surely the city could take a little time to study traffic flow -- I know in every other town I've ever lived in, while traveling on a road such as Broadway, if you catch one light you've got smooth sailing for a couple of miles. Maybe the Broadway improvements will eventually spur another look at timing these lights out. We can only hope ... PS - While I'm cranky about traffic ... People, if you pull up to a stop sign to turn right, and there's already somebody there turning left, DON'T pull up so you can see in front of their vehicle.
